I do worry about the toxic chemicals in children’s hair products and cosmetics.
Especially the cosmetics kits aimed at kids that they receive as presents round birthday’s and holidays popular in bargan home stores.
But I also understand that tangled hair on a school morning is a nightmare for both child and adult!
I use this very gentle detangling recipe
on my kids in the morning and after bath time.
Marshmallow Root when boiled releases mucilage which provides a much needed slip to glide a wet brush or comb through the hair and rose adds a nice gentle smell whilst also being good for the scalp
You will need
Marshmallow root 10g
Red Rose Petals 6g
Distilled Water 320ml
Saucepan
Cheesecloth or a mesh strainer
Wooden Spoon
Jug
Spray Bottle (washing out and reusing an old spray bottle works)
Method
1) place 320mls of cold water into your saucepan and apply medium heat.
2) place your marshmallow and rose herbs into the water and stair well. Your herbs will sit on top of the water so make sure you give it a good mix to wet all of the plant matter
3) bring to a boil. Once a boiling point turn down to a simmer and simmer away for 6-7 minutes
4) stay with your pan as the water will reduce and be absorbed by the plants easily. You’ll need to keep staring so the plants don’t stick to the bottom of the pan and burn.
5) After 6-7 minutes of simmer turn of your pan and cool down before straining. You’ll notice that your rose has lost its colouring. Don’t worry this is normal, strain with your choice of straining method
6) pour into a clean spray bottle and work
through damp hair before drying and styling.
